Day Twenty-Six
Thinking About My Purpose
Point to Ponder: Every temptation is an opportunity to do good.
Verse to Remember: “God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12
Question to Consider: What Christlike character quality can I develop by defeating the most common temptation I face?
Answer: I don’t have to think very hard to figure out which fruit of the Spirit I need to develop. My kryptonite has always been a lack of patience and it is something that I struggle with on a daily basis. Far too often I find myself allowing this temptation to affect my relationships. Not only my relationships with people but also my relationship with God. I think part of the problem is the world that we live in. We are dominated by a NOW society. From iPhones to On-Demand, from fast cars to fast-food, our culture is engulfed in getting things at the click of a button. Unfortunately this has resulted in the demise of my patience and it’s something I’m fighting to get back.
