Day Twenty-Nine
Thinking About My Purpose
Point to Ponder: Service is not optional.
Verse to Remember: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Question to Consider: What is holding me back from accepting God’s call to serve him?
Answer: I hate to admit it but right now I’m being held back by nothing but selfish desire. I’m at an age where that seems like the popular thing to do. Chase your career goals, go get that job. Check off your bucket list, take that trip. Live life to the fullest! While I don’t think there is anything wrong with this train of thought, I do believe that one’s priorities have to be in the right place. If you are chasing your career goals at the expense of your family, then that’s a problem. Instead pursue your career WITH your family and make team decisions about where the opportunities take you. If you are crossing off your bucket list during vacation time I think that’s great. However, if you are missing your son’s football game or your daughter’s school play, then once again that’s a problem. In conclusion, there is nothing wrong with living life to the fullest and chasing your dreams, as long as those dreams don’t get in the way of your loved one’s needs.
